Our 2024 Autumn Session

GrassRoots Middle offers a unique educational experience beyond the traditional classroom setting for homeschool families and children aged 9-13. Our Black-centered, nature-based program is held twice a week for 2.5 hours. It features two main blocks of 30-45 minutes each, with the remaining time dedicated to outdoor activity and collaborative learning. We will meet from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We're thrilled to introduce the following lessons.

Science

Life Sciences, specifically Zoology and Botany. We will use our community gardens as spaces to explore, discuss, learn and create.

Business Economics

Covers a range of topics, including entrepreneurship, business 101, saving, profit/loss, expenses, and business-related subjects.

Life Skills

Training that helps scholars develop interpersonal and psychosocial skills.

Fun Fitness + Play Based Activities

Participation in spirited daily movement activities to build cardiovascular strengths. This includes free-time to move our bodies autonomously in nature.

Mediums + Materials Art

The creation of visual art that combines various mediums or materials.

Environmental Justice

Walk through the importance of just treatment and meaningful involvement of environmental protection and sustainability.
